Metabolic Modelling, Spring 09 (4 cr, 2 cu)

Excercise 1

Updated deadline to midnight of Tuesday (24:00 17.3)

The first week exercise is to write a summary about the paper describing the method behind the PathoLogic tool:

Michelle L. Green and Peter D Karp: A Bayesian method for identifying missing enzymes in predicted metabolic pathway databases. BMC Bioinformatics 5:76, 2004

The purpose of the summary is to gather the main contents of a scientific article and to summarise it in your own words. The summary should be *2-4 pages* long. You can use additional papers as material, if you like.

The summary should take the form of a scientific article, containing a title, author (that's yourself), an abstract, section headings, and a reference section containing at least the summarized article.

The summaries will be graded, and 0-5 exercise points will be given correspondingly. These point contribute towards the maximum of 20 exercise points available on the course.

Factors that will affect the grade:

DEADLINE: Please submit the summary to Markus Heinonen (mqheinon@cs.helsinki.fi) by 16.00 o'clock on Tuesday 17.3.
