Welcome to the international (English-speaking) blog of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki. Our blog invites views on research, education, student life, and other societal themes connected to our computer science fields. The intention is to build a forum as an open window for readers from inside and outside computer science. If you have any good ideas or articles to share on this blog, please feel free to contact us: cs-blog [ät] cs.helsinki.fi.
Friday Pulla / Perjantai Pulla
Who likes coffee, sweets and a chance to hear what their colleagues are doing? We agreed at the strategy day that we need more inter-group socialization and communication, so we're inviting everyone in the department to a coffee break every Friday afternoon. Each week one research group will bring pulla or other treats to the second-floor coffee room at 2 o'clock and give a short (max 5 minutes!) and slide-less presentation about their research. Cunning groups may even bring mixed treats to tempt us to arrive on time for the best selection!
The first Friday's treats were courtesy of RAGE (Agile Education Research), then we have been on a 6-week summer hiatus. And now we are back!
Groups Re:Know (Revolution of Knowledge Work), Carat (Collaborative Energy and Malware Diagnosis), CoNe (Collaborative Networking) and Software Systems Engineering have volunteered to bring treats in August or September.
This Friday we will have Re:Know. Please check the Facebook group "Staff of Department of Computer Science" for update.
Look forward to your presentation and enjoy the Friday!
