Yleistä
Understanding networks better often requires understanding what kind of traffic flows in the networks. Internet, being a global network, poses particular challenges to being measured. Nevertheless, several aspects of the Internet, across all layers of the protocol stack, have already been measured and used in development of new network protocols and architectures. In this seminar, we will take a look at measurement technologies and results as they relate to Internet and networking in general.
Possible topics include:
- Ethernet measurements
- IP-level measurements
- TCP measurements
- WWW measurements
- Measurements of social networks
- User-generated content
- WiFi networks
- Other wireless networks
- Measurement technologies
Each topic above typically contains a couple of possible seminar topics.
Number of places is still open, but will probably be limited to 10 because of Easter holidays
Kurssin suorittaminen
To pass the seminar, you will need to write a paper (7-10 pages in the given template), hold a presentation of about 30 minutes, write a review of 3 other papers, and participate in at least 80% of the seminar meetings.
