Yleistä

Information-centric networking (ICN) is a new networking paradigm for content delivery where the focus is on accessing content by name instead of identifying the hosts where the content resides, as is done in the Web. Key elements of ICN are name-based forwarding and routing as well as universal caching. ICN is currently a very active topic, both in research and in the IETF, and several competing solutions have been proposed. In this seminar, we will take a look at the current state of research in information-centric networking and its basic technologies and components, as well as related technologies. Topics in the seminar include for example:

  • In-network caching
  • Routing in ICN
  • Forwarding in ICN
  • Overview of on-going projects
  • Content delivery networks
  • Publish/subscribe networks
  • Applications of ICN

The exact topics will be assigned in the first seminar meeting.
