Telephones

During your initiation period, you will be informed about your office telephone number. The number connected to your office will not necessarily remain your number - someone who has recently moved out of the office may have reserved it for themselves. If a new number has not been connected to your office yet, it will be connected the following time the telephone fitters visit the department. This usually takes about a week.

Inside the university, you can use the extension numbers on their own (without dialling 0 and the prefix, which is usually 191). To call the university switchboard from the department, dial 99.

If you want to call outside the university to the Metropolitan area, dial zero (0). When calling other areas in Finland, dial zero before the area code (e.g. for Joensuu: 0 013 456123). It is not possible to call directly overseas from all phones. If you want to make an overseas phone call from one of these phones, you can ask the switchboard to connect you to the number you want.

Disappearance of the office phone

Call immediately to the telephone exchange 09-191 24444 if you lose your mobile office phone during office hours 8.00-16.00.

They can close the telephone subscribtion from the telephone exchange and order you a new phone and SIM-card.

If you lose your mobile phone outside office hours 16.00-8.00 you need to notify that to the Elisa technical support 010804400, from which they can temporarily close the telephone subscribtion. After this you can order a new phone and SIM-card from the telephone exchange 09-191 24444, and they will terminate the old telephone subscribtion.
