The main focus of the team is in machine learning, especially on-line learning, learning structured representations, and kernel methods. In particular, the team studies theoretically well-founded methods and rigorous performance bounds for them. This includes analyzing the methods both in the classic statistical setting and in an online setting, where many of the classic assumptions can be avoided.
