During the last two days there has been delays in mail processing on the mail system of the Department of Computer Science. This was caused by some of our users who sent extraordinary amounts of mail. The purpose of these mails was legitimate by itself but the use our server to post them did not actually comply with our rules and regulations.

Today, November 24, there has been a number of small interrupts (10-20 sec) in postal service. They have been most harmful for users of mail programs that cannot automatically reconnect IMAP sessions (such as alpine). In the afternoon 12:45-13:51 a few users suffered from "Internal server error". These were caused by necessary reconfiguration needed to protect our mail system.
