KUTSU - INVITATION - Helsinki Distinguished Lecture Series on Future Information Technology

Welcome to the opening of a new high level lecture series on Friday 23 November,

2012 at 3 p.m. at Open Innovation House (OIH) in Otaniemi (Otaniementie 19-21, Espoo).

 

Helsinki Distinguished Lecture Series on Future Information Technology (https://www.hiit.fi/HelsinkiITLectures)

kicks off with an invited lecture from Professor Tuomas Sandholm (Carnegie Mellon University, USA), entitled

"Modern Dynamic Kidney Exchanges"

 

Prof. Sandholm is one of the most highly cited Finnish Computer Scientists, a

recipient of the NSF Career Award, the inaugural ACM Autonomous Agents

Research Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship, the Carnegie Science Center

Award for Excellence, and the Computers and Thought Award.

We use the same occasion to celebrate the opening of new facilities of Helsinki

Institute for Information Technology HIIT (http://www.hiit.fi), a joint

research institute of University of Helsinki and Aalto University.

 

The lecture is is preceded by opening cocktails and followed by exhibition of HIIT research.

 

The event is free of charge and open to all interested in the leading research

in information technology. For planning purposes, we request registering the attendance to the event via

email to HelsinkiITLectures@hiit.fi no later than Tuesday 20 November, 2012.

 

The lecture series will continue in the Spring and follow a bi-monthly schedule.

Confirmed speakers include Turing Award winner Leslie Valiant and Knuth Prize
