Inaugural lectures of new professors
The 18 new professors of the University of Helsinki will outline the main challenges of their fields in general terms at 14-16 on Wednesday, 27 May.
The lectures will last 20 minutes and are given in eight different lecture halls in the Main Building of the university, at Aleksanterinkatu 5. There will be a short pause between each lecture so that members of the audience can change lecture halls. At 16 o’clock, after the lectures, there will be a reception in the banqueting hall, where the chancellor will present the new professors with their appointment certificates.
The ceremonial lecture is a popular rendering of the main issues of the professor's own field, aimed at the university community and society at large.
Please see www.helsinki.fi/juhlaluennot and https://university.helsinki.fi/fi/professorien-esittely for more details on the programme and the professors (in Finnish).
