The aim of the session is to provide participants with a new perspective on the University as a workplace and with useful information about the University as an employer. 

In addition, the participants will be aided in establishing an overview of their place in the academic community and understanding the significance of their work for the overall performance of the University.

At the event you will get an overview of the University as an employer and as a community. You will also have an opportunity to ask questions from specialists. The event is a part of the University of Helsinki orientation and we encourage all new staff members to attend this session.

The session will be conducted by representatives of the administration of the University. The topics of the session are for example:

Decision-making, mission and vision of the University
- University as an employer, basic employment issues
- Occupational healthcare and well-being at work
- Services of Research Affairs
- Information on services at the HU
- Especially for international staff: relocation issues
- Campus tour: Get to know city center campus

Representatives of the leadership and administration of the University: rector Jukka Kola, Niina Kivilä (international staff services), Hannele Rönkkö (HRD and Wellbeing unit), Javier Caldentey (Research Srvices)

The lunch is included for the event provided by HRD and Wellbeing Unit.
