In the application process for students who have taken an international degree, 48 students were accepted to computer science programmes (Algorithms and Machine Learning, Networking and Services), 15 to the bioinformatics programme, and 7 to the CBU ICT Master’s programme. When it comes to CBU ICT, the students entering the programme in 2012 are the last ones, because the university is leaving the CBU cooperation and the programme will end at the beginning of 2013.

There were slightly less applicants this year compared to last year. For computer science, there were a total of 199 admissible applications. For the CBU ICT programme, there were 114 admissible applications. Converted to numbers, this is a 30% change from the previous year, but some of the change is explained by the stricter language requirements. The applications that did not meet the language requirements were pruned out in the application services, while earlier they have not been eliminated until the application reached the department.

Of the students accepted to computer science, one third will enter the Algorithms and Machine Learning programme and two thirds the Networks and Services programme. This is a step back to the situation in 2010. The students accepted in 2011 were evenly distributed to both programmes.

There will be more international students accepted through separate application processes. Students with a basic degree from another university or technical college in Finland can apply through the separate application process.
