Facelift for university website

The appearance of the university’s website in Finnish, Swedish and English has been updated during the summer, and now most of the webpages have a new look. It is the main website of the university (helsinki.fi/yliopisto, helsinki.fi/universitetet and helsinki.fi/university)  that has been updated, while the pages of faculties, departments and units remain as before.

During the summer, it is mainly the visual appearance of the website that has been updated; the technology for maintaining and producing contents were not renewed this time. The URLs of the pages have also largely remained the same, but a few of them had to be changed. However, we have attempted to redirect from the old URLs to the new ones so that links created before will still work.

In addition to the visual reworking, some contents have also been improved, and hundreds of web pages containing obsolete information have been moved to the archives.

Simultaneously with this update, we are also working on a larger project to renew our public web pages, in order to bring both the technology of the university’s web service and the appearance of the website up to date. According to our preliminary schedule, the first results of this project will be published next year.
