Postgraduate students now have their own association, Helsingin yliopiston jatko-opiskelijat ry, which promotes networking and attends to the students’ interests.

“It felt natural to organise ourselves in connection with the reform of doctoral education. We will now have a say in the procedures that are being created from scratch,” says doctoral student Harri Waltari, who serves as the chair of the association. At its first meetings, the association has dealt with topics such as the development of general postgraduate studies and the improvement of supervisory practices.
