The great anniversary year kicks off!

The University’s 375th anniversary year is action-packed from day one.

This year, the University community and Helsinki at large celebrate the University of Helsinki's 375th anniversary year. Events for both the University community and the general public will be held all year round.
Events that will get you in a celebratory mood in January

1. The LUX Carnival of Lights 4-8 January.
After dark, at 17.00–22.00, the Porthania building will become a work of multimedia art, combining sound and light, while the Topelia courtyard will turn into a charming lantern park.

2.    The Night of Sciences 8 January.
This year’s theme for the Night of the Sciences, organised in Think Corner at Porthania, is Chance.

3.    The Kaisaniemi metro station will be renamed University of Helsinki in January.

4.    The Helsinki Challenge teams will pitch their ideas to the general public in the University’s Great Hall on 28–29 January.

5. The Alumni Day 29.1.
Did you know that all current University employees and students are also considered alumni? Register for the faculty events!

The anniversary year will be officially launched at the opening ceremony for staff and students on 21 January. Thanks to the enthusiasm of the University community, the event is full and registration is closed.
