On Monday 24 August, enthusiastic first-year students will crowd the Kumpula campus.

On Wednesday 26 August from 1 pm to 4 pm, there will be an on-campus event, Science Bazaar, and everyone is welcome to join and greet the newcomers.

Please note that the new students need help and support from the campus staff. Students are the Faculty’s most important resource and they often decide during the first weeks whether they find the academic world appealing.

Creating a welcoming atmosphere at the University and its departments is as important as the official orientation studies. How new students are welcomed and the positive image of the campus they foster are significant factors in student recruitment, and spread actively through social media, for example.

Investing in the first weeks at the University pays off. Every one of us can influence how the new students integrate into the campus community. Please, offer guidance, show them around or just greet them with a kind smile.
