linux-utils and kernel 2.4

Does anyone use the linux utils with the 2.4 versions of the kernel?
I do and have been experiencing compiling problems with the new kernels.
I understand someone might have a patch to overcome these problems and
if so I would certainly appreicate knowing where I can get such a fix..
