Hi!

Running 2.5.2-pre3, hdparm shows up very poor harddisk performance
on my system compared to 2.4.x:

[Kernel 2.5.2-pre3]

elfie:~ # hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.77 seconds = 72.32 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 22.09 seconds = 2.90 MB/sec
^^^^
[Kernel 2.4.17]

elfie:~ # hdparm -tT /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
Timing buffer-cache reads: 128 MB in 1.81 seconds = 70.72 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 64 MB in 6.61 seconds = 9.68 MB/sec
^^^^
The tests were made under the same circumstances, of course, so no other
process can be the cause.

Here come the harddisk and system informations:

elfie:~ # hdparm -i /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
