[patch] remove a workaround for gcc-2.4.5

Hi Claus-Justus,

the patch below removes a workaround for gcc-2.4.5. Since a long time
passed since this compiler was supported the last time this could be IMHO
removed from the 2.2/2.4/2.5 kernels.
