More info. The 2.4.9 kernel drops characters, too. It's just at a much
lower rate. I'll lose ~60 characters out of 700K.

The irony is that I got the 16c654s (with their 64 byte buffers and
hardware flow control) to reduce lost data. :-/

Anybody know why the serial driver is losing data on a 16c654?

I'm not on linux-kernel, so please reply directly.
