[Oops] 2.5.46 & 2.5.47 crash at shutdown

Both .46 and .47 crash at shutdown on my HP 6000
laptop, just after unmounting all disks,
with the following output (copied by hand):-

Segmentation fault

It is quite repeatable. I can try building the kernel
with serial console if it would help.
Versions prior to 2.5.46 used to shutdown OK.
