USB hiddev support 2.5.7x

I'm having trouble with hiddev in 2.5.70 and later with an APC UPS.

Could it be related to this message?:
kernel: drivers/usb/core/hub.c: usb-00:0a.2-3 clear tt 1 (00b0) error -32
last message repeated 2 times

I get that in the log when I try to open the hiddev device from apcupsd
or nut. The APC is listed in lsusb and is using the hid driver...

This boot log is from 2.5.70, but I'm pretty sure 2.5.73 is essentially
the same...I can send a log from 2.5.73 if required.
