usbnet make linux halt

Dear lists,
kernel: linux 2.4.21
usbnet: GeneSys GL620USB-A, PL2301
when I unplug the line, linux halt. So I must cold
boot my machine again.
I have used linux 2.4.20, I never met the same
problem.
