They work fine for you and I, but they are two thirds of FA good when you're
trying to get a newbie to install Linux. Admittedly, they could have a nice
front end put on them and be included in distributions' install scripts, but
that's not really the best solution, IMO.

When you want a monolithic kernel. More importantly, when you have a PnP
network card and want to install by NFS.
Also when you've told your boss how much easier life would be if you were
allowed to use Linux, and he picks a machine full of PnP hardware for a
demo, and wants to do it himself because that's how easy it _should_ be.
