Is your cdrom attached to the sound card or is it attached to anoter IDE
or SCSI card? If is not on the sound card, probably what is happening
is that the DOS sound config program is also setting the mixer volume
(which probably defaults to 0). Try setting the CD channel volume using
a linux mixer.
