demand dialing broke: 2.3.45 + PPP 2.3.11

I get the following messge:

read: Bad file descriptor(9)

I could send the output from strace if you like. I don't see what is going
on. pppd still works without demand dialing, and it works with in 2.3.43 -
I did not try 2.4.44.
