One never before seen (but maybe unimportant) symptom afterward.
eth0: Too much work at interrupt, status 0x01
It is "mostly" harmless.
The driver is saying that it has spent too much time in the interrupt
handle, ie. packets are coming in at a faster rate than the driver can
remove them.
