In summary: things are actually worse. Every pcmcia card I have causes something
bad even a generic modem, a Hitachi cellular capable 28.8/14.4 xjack modem. (came
as an unknown bonus in my ambicom box...gotta love Fry's, sometimes you get more
than you paid for).
Linksys:
16bit 10/100 & 56K modem(ne2k) - causes hangs on insertion or removal except
for shutdown state
32bit 10/100(tulip) - causes hangs on boot (socket 0) or OOPS (socket 1) on
insertion/removal
Ambicom:
32bit 10/100(tulip) - same as 32bit linksys.
Aviator 2.2:
16bit wireless(ray_cs) - causes hang on insertion/removal for socket 0, works
for one ins/rem cycle in socket 1 then OOPSes.
crashes on shutdown (major long long OOPSes until random perm crash)
Hitachi:
16bit 28.8 modem(serial) - hangs machine on insert/eject
