Postgres works on a wide variety of operating systems and architectures. I
think its safe to eliminate linuxisms here. It runs on Irix, HP-UX and
Solaris and more.

Of course its really an Hans Reiser evil plot to damage Postgresql because
the commercial postgresql is funded by a Red Hat investor
