Lisää miniläppäreitä opiskelijoille
Tietojenkäsittelytieteen laitos palkitsee opinnoissaan hyvin edenneitä pääaineopiskelijoita lainaamalla opiskelun tueksi 150 miniläppäriä (Asus Eee PC 900).
Lainaamisen ehtona on, että opiskelija suorittaa aktiivisesti tietojenkäsittelytieteen koulutusohjelman mukaisia opintoja. Kriteereinä käytetään tämän hetkistä osallistumista opetukseen sekä kahden viime vuoden opintopistekertymää, erityisesti tietojenkäsittelytieteessä. Mikäli opinnot ovat graduvaiheessa eikä absoluuttinen opintopistekertymä kuvaa opiskeluaktiivisuutta, painotetaan gradun suunnitelmallista edistymistä.
Miniläppärit jaetaan hakemusten perusteella opinnoissaan parhaiten ansioituneille opiskelijoille. Miniläppärin saa varmasti lainaan, mikäli suoritettuja (ei hyväksiluettuja) tutkintoon johtavia opintoja on vähintään 50 op/vuosi, joista vähintään 20 op/vuosi tietojenkäsittelytieteessä, tai jos gradu edistyy suunnitelmallisesti ja sen aiheen hyväksymisestä on korkeintaan 4 kk. Vähemmilläkin opinnoilla lainakoneen voi saada, kilpailusta riippuen.

Kirjekuoreen merkintä 'miniläppäri'. Hakemuksena riittää opintosuoritusote (WebOodin kautta sähköpostitse tilattava epävirallinen ote riittää), jossa tulee näkyä kokonaisuuksiin sisällytetyt opintojaksot ja niiden suorituspäivät. Haluttaessa voi saatekirjeessä esittää selvityksen opiskeluaktiivisuuden muutoksista, jotka johtuvat esimerkiksi vanhemmuudesta, varusmiespalveluksesta tai merkittävästä sairaudesta. Lisäksi opiskelijan on ilmoitettava hakemuksessa sähköpostiosoite, johon hakijalle lähetetään tieto hakemuksen hyväksymisestä/hylkäämisestä.
Läppärin laina-ajan jatkoa tarkastellaan matemaattisluonnontieteellisen tiedekunnan Etappi-järjestelmän mukaisissa tarkistuspisteissä. Mikäli opinnot eivät opintorekisteriin kertyneiden suoritusten perusteella etene Etappi-järjestelmän edellyttämällä tavalla tietojenkäsittelytieteen laitos voi olla myöntämättä tietokoneen laina-ajalle jatkoa. Laina-aika päättyy viimeistään maisterin tutkinnon tultua suoritetuksi. Laina-aika on kuitenkin korkeintaaan vuoden 2012 loppuun, mihin asti laitteille pyritään järjestämään tuki.
Tietokone on Helsingin yliopiston omaisuutta ja se annetaan henkilökohtaiseen käyttöön. Sitä ei saa siirtää eikä luovuttaa toiselle henkilölle.

More Mini-Notebooks for the Students
The Department of Computer Science rewards its successful major-subject undergraduates by lending them 150 mini-notebooks (Asus Eee PC 900) to support their work.
The loan is subject to the condition that the students are actively following the syllabus for computer science. Their current participation in courses and the past two years of completed credits, especially in computer science, will be used as criteria. If they are at the stage of writing their Master’s thesis, so that the number of credits does not represent their activity level, we will focus on how their thesis is progressing according to their schedule.
The mini-notebooks will be given on the basis of applications to students who have been the most successful in their work. Any undergraduate, who has completed (not transferred) at least 50 degree credits per year, of which at least 20 credits should be from computer science courses, or whose thesis is progressing according to schedule and it is no more than 4 months since its topic was approved, will have th loan of a mini-notebook. Depending on the number of applications, undergraduates with less credits may receive one, as well.

Write ’mini-notebook’ on the envelope. The application may consist of an excerpt from the study register (the unofficial excerpt that you can order through e-mail from WebOodi will do) showing which courses have been included in modules and when they have been completed. Those who so wish may attach an appendix with an explanation of changes in their work activity due to e.g. parenthood, army service, or significant illness. Students must also give their e-mail address where the announcement of approval or denial of their application can be sent.
Extensions of the loan will be negotiated at the checkpoints for the Etappi system at the Faculty of Science. For students whose work is not progressing in the way required by the Etappi system according to the study register, the Department of Computer Science may deny an extension of the loan of the mini-notebook. The loan will end when students complete their Master’s degree, at the latest. However, the loan will last no longer than the end of year 2012, for which time user support will be organised for the users of mini-notebooks.
The mini-notebooks are the property of the University of Helsinki and it is intended for personal use. Recipients may not transfer or hand it over to anyone else.
