The Helka library card
All the Helsinki University libraries have a joint library card, the Helka card. You can activate your Lyyra card as a Helka card. When you register your Lyyra card, you will need to show ID.
Using the library material
Typically, ther material in the Kumpula Science Library can be loaned for 28 days. Journals and reference books cannot be loaned. You can renew your loans if the books have not been reserved and you are not banned from loaning books. You can renew and reserve library material in the Helka system.
The material should be returned to the same library where you loaned it. In the Kumpula library, materials are returned to an automat. It is best to hold on to the receipt that it gives you.
Please see the library's website for more information on rules of use.
Online materials
The researchers, teaching staff, students, and other university employees have access to all the online materials from any computer in the Helsinki University network.
You can also access the materials from outside the university network through the remote access service. To use the remote access services, you need a valid user account and password to the UH network.
The Nelli information-seeking portal is the easiest way to access online materials.
