Call for Papers: FIFTH SYMPOSIUM ON PROGRAMMING LANGUAGES AND SOFTWARE TOOLS =========================================================== Jyvaskyla (Jyv\"{a}skyl\"{a}), Finland June 7-8, 1997 GENERAL The symposium belongs to the series that began in 1989. The symposium is geographically restricted: participants are accepted from Estonia, Finland and Hungary. The previous meetings have been organized in 1989 in Szeged (Hungary), in 1991 in Pirkkala (Finland), in 1993 in Kaariku (Estonia), and in 1995 in Visegrad (Hungary). In 1997 the symposium will be organized jointly by the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki, and the Department of Computer Science and Informations Systems, University of Jyvaskyla. The official language of the symposium is English. In order to provide a broader context for the symposium, it will be immediately followed by the 11th European Conference on Object-Oriented Programming (ECOOP'97), Jyvaskyla, Finland, June 9 - 13, 1997. The registration fee for ECOOP'97 will be substantially reduced for the participants from post-East-European countries, including Estonia and Hungary. The ECOOP'97 home site resides at: http://wwwtrese.cs.utwente.nl/ecoop97/ AIMS & SCOPE The scope of the symposium is rather broad: any software related topic is in principle possible. Example topics are: algorithms and data structures, databases, programming environments, programming languages and paradigms, programming methodologies, software generators, software engineering, and user interfaces. In particular, young researchers are encouraged to submit a paper to the symposium and to give a presentation for an international scientific audience. VENUE Jyvaskyla is located in the middle of southern Finland (appr. 270 km from Helsinki) and can be conveniently reached by train or plane. The symposium will be held in the premises of the University of Jyvaskyla. The accommodation management of ECOOP'97 will be available even for the participants of the symposium, providing a centralized reservation service to hotels near to the University. More information will be given later. SUBMISSIONS Two copies of a full paper (written in English) not exceeding 12 pages (size A4) should be sent to the program committee chairman: Jukka Paakki Department of Computer Science P.O. The proceedings will be published in a series of the University of Helsinki (or Jyvaskyla). In order to establish network connection, please also send the abstract of the paper by e-mail (ASCII). E-mail is the default medium for sending the notification of acceptance/rejection, as well as additional information about the symposium. Important dates: ---------------- - Full paper submission due: March 15, 1997. - Electronic abstract submission due: March 15, 1997. - Notification of acceptance/rejection: March 31, 1997. - Camera ready paper due: April 30, 1997. - Symposium: June 7-8, 1997.
