This is the personal website of Kimmo Kulovesi, a student and research assistant at the Department of Computer Science, University of Helsinki.

Most of the content is quite selfishly just about me, myself and I, but the downloads page contains some things which may even be of interest to some.

2010-12-09 Added Windows 7, Windows Vista, and OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard versions of my Dvorak keyboard layout.
2009-01-18 Added a DVD subtitle to VobSub ripping script for Linux on the downloads page after trying in vain to find a simple one for the command-line.
2008-01-18 Expanded and clarified the page on my Dvorak keyboard layout, including layouts for classic Mac OS systems and some speculation about use of the layout with languages other than Finnish (or English).
2008-01-12 Moved my Finnish Dvorak keyboard layouts to their own page (as they were clearly the most popular thing on the downloads page).
2007-10-10 Updated the OS X, X11 and Linux console versions of my Finnish Dvorak layout (ArkkuDvorak), plus added X11 versions for some platforms other than those using the x86 keycodes (Sun, SGI, Apple). I will try to make an updated Windows version pretty soon as well.
2006-07-10 Released the full source code for my implementation of the Substrate screensaver. Available on the downloads page.
2006-04-15 Removed extra remappings from the X11 version of my Finnish Dvorak layout, as they reportedly broke keyboard shortcuts. Also, removed the caps lock to ctrl -remapping. These are still commented out at the end of the file, which is available on the downloads page.
2006-03-03 Updated the screensaver (Substrate) on the downloads page. The changes are quite subtle, but I recommend all (any?) users update for maximal visual pleasure. I also moved some things around on the about page, though it's still not entirely up to date. And, I converted my powerpoint presentation from 2001 to PDF.
2005-10-31 Added the first release version of a screensaver I made for Mac OS X. On the downloads page.
2005-09-03 Finally got around to uploading my Finnish Dvorak layout for Microsoft Windows XP. Do tell me if it doesn't work (or does), I have no idea.
2004-11-13 Made some changes to the OS X Dvorak layout, e.g. dead acute and grave followed by a digit outputs a super- or subscript version of it.
2004-09-13 Made a bunch of corrections and changes on the about page. Also updated the AFT SHTML files on the downloads page - as a consequence the superscript texts should now work on this site as well as others generated using that AFT style. And I changed the stylesheet a bit, too. Whew.
2004-09-09 Added a clip art archive extractor for .mpf files on the downloads page. I'm using it to access Microsoft's clip art archives on non-Windows systems.
2004-09-08 Added the Dvorak layout for OS X on the downloads page. Also realized that I should probably make a script to generate the X-layouts automatically for each platform, but haven't gotten around to it yet.
2004-07-01 Corrected a few typos and the like all around the site. I really should take up reading the content instead of just writing it.
2004-05-02 Added a useless program on the downloads page. Aside from being useless, it scrambles text.
2004-04-28 Added even more text on the about page. Considering starting a weblog so there'd be even more stuff here for both of us to not read.
2004-04-19 Rewrote most of the text on this site, as it was beginning to get out of date - nice timing, apparently, since it's been exactly a year since my last rewrite. Also, I'm using “Almost Free Text” for generating the contents of the site, now. The rule file I use is available on the downloads page. This added convenience for me should hopefully make updates more frequent. I don't know if anyone reads these pages, though, but that's beside the point, really...
2004-04-18 Updated the script that switches between keyboard layouts - it now detects the current layout more intelligently in both X and the Linux console. It's available on the downloads page.
2004-04-17 Updated the Dvorak layouts for the Linux console on the downloads page. The layouts are now independent on include-files and work on Sun Type 5 keyboards on 2.6.x kernels (in addition to regular PC keyboards).
2003-11-26 Updated the Dvorak layouts for the Linux console. The layouts now support Ctrl-<arrow> cursor movement, which I like to configure so that it jumps between words.
2003-08-06 Added a small script to switch between keyboard layouts on the downloads page.
2003-04-18 Redesigned this website. It's now using SSI, so future updates will be easier and hopefully more frequent. I will start using this as my personal website, and arkku.com for my “larger projects”. (Hah.)
