Evaluation of education and degrees at the University of Helsinki 2001-2002
Evaluation of the Department of Computer Science

The University is carrying out an international evaluation of its education and degree programmes during the academic year 2001-2002. The goal of the project is:

• to evaluate and develop teaching and learning,
• to give the departments and faculties the opportunity to receive international feedback on their teaching,
• to improve the quality of the degrees and to follow up efforts to achieve the goals/aims set for the degrees
• to develop an evaluation culture at the departments and faculties

The evaluation started with a self-assessment phase. After this stage, international panels visited the University and met teachers and students. The final report on the project will be published in September 2002.

• The self assesment report (short version) of the Computer Science Department was finished by 1 November 2001.
  This report is appended to the self assessment report of the discipline group.
• The self assessment report (long version) of the Computer Science Department was finished by 13 November 2001.
• The self assessment report of the discipline group was finished by 20 November 2001.
• The translation of the Computer Science Department's self assessment report (long version) was finished by 10 December 2001.
• The translation of the self assessment report for the discipline group was translated by 20 February 2002.
• Panel visit 18-22 March 2002.
• The final report of the assessment panel was published in April 2002.
• Analysis of the material and self assessment are continued during Spring 2002.
• The final report (university assessment team) will be finished in September 2002.
