But oh! that deep romantic chasm which
slanted
Down the green hill athwart a cedarn cover!
A savage place! as holy and enchanted
As e'er beneath a waning moon was haunted
By woman wailing for her demon-lover!
-Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Kubla Khan
ome to a land of adventure and mystery, of falling empires and
rising nations, of legendary creatures and incredible myths. This is Ars
Magica's Mythic Europe, where the power of magic is real and exists
alongside historical figures and locations. Stories revolve around the
covenant: one part mystical college, one part magical laboratory, one
part Hermetic fortification, one part bastion of secrecy.
Ars Magica is by far my favorite role-playing game. It might have
something to do with that I'm the Storyguide (DM or GM to you ADDers) of
our Saga
.
This page serves as a collection point for information about our saga
(the next section), as well as a store for all kinds of resources and
links related to both Ars Magica and role-playing in general.
The resources below are marked with language flags. Information in
Finnish is marked with a

marked with a
. Since our saga is played in Finnish, most of the
saga information is in Finnish. The link section does not have any
markings; all links point to English material.

We've started our second saga now. The players' covenant is built
upon the ruins of their old covenant, which was destroyed in a Wizards'
March. Suffice it to say, most of the characters in the previous
covenant thought the Code of Hermes
was a bit boring. The
new covenant is called Le Blanc, and has four elder NPC magi as leaders,
which ought to cool things down a bit.
Note that this is not an email game - you cannot "listen in" to the game.
- Celebrant:
- There is only Games and The Time Between Games.
- Congregation:
- Pray, let it be short.
The game was on hiatus while I was working in Japan. The notes
of
the game are still available. Now that I'm back, we are continuing the
campaign.
I made some notes
of the game sessions in
the previous saga, detailing the history of the infamous covenant of
Grapegrove. I've converted a fraction of them to something resembling a
story
.
Darin has used the smaller one as a resource for the large one,
but some items were left out for various reasons. If you don't want
any additions or changes, here's the completely unedited original version
