Designing and Using Object-oriented Frameworks (FRED)
FRED (FRamework EDitor) is a project that aims at producing methods
and tools that facilitate the design and reuse of frameworks.
The main language is Java, and design
patterns are considered essential. In particular, the aim is to:
- increase knowledge of frameworks and design patterns in the
industry;
- develop methodologies for framework design and reuse;
- implement prototype tools for designing, managing and
usingframeworks in Java;
- apply the developed techniques to frameworks for Internet
applications written in Java.
The project is a joint venture of the University of Helsinki and the University of Tampere.
