581258-1 Introduction to programming: info in autumn 1997

The course is an obligatory course of the approbatur of Computer Science, the amount of credit units is 4. In the course the principles of programming is the main interest. Java is used as the language of the course, but not all of Java is covered.

Lectures are 15.9-10.12.1997 on Mondays and Wednesdays 12.-14 in the Auditorium. (also 16-18!)

Flanagan: Java in a Nutshell, 2nd Edition, O'Reilly, 1997. Not for beginners.

The problems are given in advance. in the weekly meeting the students' solutions are analysed. It is obligatory to answer at least to the half of the total amount of questions but after this minumum extra points are achieved.

After the first meeting the students will have advice on using the computers of the Department.

The grade is determined:

  excercises   12 points 
  1. exam.     22 points 
  2. exam.     26 points

  yhteensä     60 points

The minimum of examination points is 22. About 30 points give 1-/3, 33 give 1/3, ..., c. 51 give 3/3.
