Michael Clasen Mon, 17 Jan 2000 11:37:37 -0800 -------------- My name is Michael Clasen, 47 years of age living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Have been married for 16 years and have a 10 year old daughter. Along with Michael Peterson's assistance I host the Bay Area Lute Site. http://www.mclasen.com/lute/balute.html Let's see, started playing guitar when I was about 12, took up classical guitar about 14 and started playing Ren. pieces very early. Studied Political Science in College and moved to the Bay Area in 1975. Went through Printing, Printing Sales, Graphic Design, Production management (DTP), Technical Testing for Personal Computers at Ziff-Davis Labs, Network Administration and now am a Computer Consultant specializing in Filemaker Pro and its web components. Was a professional musician for a few years when first moving to the Bay Area playing Classical Guitar and acquired a galute for a local luthier. Due to the need to make money I left performing and teaching and went underground for about 10 years before surfacing in 1991 and met together with Michael Peterson playing duets and going to local lute events. Ordered a more historical instrument that was delivered the year before last and have now switched to gut on a 8 course 65cm instrument. Also own a A lute acquired in the last year or so. Love Renaissance repertoire; currently playing a lot for Richard Darsie's book of Ren pieces called Silver Sound and the Book of Italian Fantasias from Dick Hoban. I host their music pages at the above site at not charge so if your interested in collections of great music come take a look. Love the music from the 1500s and the Vihuea pieces. Not very interested in Baroque lute at all. My next lute will be a vihuela. Back to lurking... Cheers
