Tom Draughon Sat, 8 Jan 2000 12:23:49 +0000 ------------ I am a 40 -something year old (ugh - nasty word) guy living in the frozen wastes of northern Wisconsin by Lake Superior (man, this sounds like a "personals" ad). Really, it's a beautiful area and I love it here enough to have moved back up here from North Carolina. I am a professional touring folk performer, guitarist and recording artist on 16 albums to date, and teach a lot of people, mostly kids, to play music on piano, violin and guitar. I play violin in my community orchestra, Irish and "old time" fiddle tunes for dances, clawhammer banjo, and Chopin and Beethoven on piano for my own enjoyment. I love to sing, and have been singing as long as I can remember. Two summers ago I was on tour with Molly and the Makers playing electric country-rock and screaming old Beatles songs. I travel sometimes with a group of old friends with whom I sing songs of the Voyageurs and great lakes logging and sailing songs and drink beer. I love to be out in the woods fly fishing, skiing, canoeing, or just sitting. I had a lute for a short while in the late 70's, but it exploded one day and fell by the wayside. I have always loved listening to early music and have played some Dowland and Bach, but never tried Weiss yet. I am getting another lute soon. I am composing for various instruments, and have written pieces for woodwind quintet, string quartet, guitar, piano, etc. I am currently working on a symphonic piece, a possible film score, and am starting a work for vihuela. I have a wife, an 18 year old son, and a 3 year old adopted daughter from China, 2 dogs, and a cat. I have a multitrack digital recording facility and a music publishing website, http://www.heartistrymusic.com I have been a piano tuner/ technician since 1978, and a violin repairer since 1990. I am also one helluva nice guy.
