Ed Durbrow Wed, 12 Jan 2000 22:35:58 +0900 ---------- I am 50, live in Japan with my wife and 11 year old daughter. Before I came to Japan, almost 19 years ago, I made my living as a musician: three years in a rock band in England, then scraping by playing classical guitar and lute in restaurants, weddings and parties and teaching guitar in the S.F. north bay area. Since coming here, I've become an English teacher (eating is a habit I haven't been able to break). Still, I make a substantial portion of my income playing lute in costume, either solo or with my group La Primavera and playing one-man-band at events. These event gigs fall in the 'entertainment' category rather than music gigs, which is good as they pay more than music gigs. I view myself primarily as a composer. I spend most of my musical time practicing singing and lute though, and compose/record in bursts. I have had a recording studio in my house since 82. I'm hoping to attract lots of customers to it now that I've re-tooled. I joined the LSA in 74 or 75. I've had lessons with many of the greats including a year with Mr. Dombois at Basil in 79-80. I've just self-released my first lute CD which is aimed at general audiences and probably of no interest to those used to hearing Paul Odette, Jacob Lindberg, Hoppy Smith etc. etc. The most appealing thing at my web site would probably be the music jokes. http://plaza2.mbn.or.jp/~studioedo/musicjokes.html Cheers, Ed Durbrow Saitama, Japan http://plaza2.mbn.or.jp/~studioedo/
