Nancy Gabriel Sun, 09 Jan 2000 10:37:10 -0800 ------------- I got my 7 course Lyn Elder lute in 1996 via Donna Curry. I have skinny stick fingers and really have to concentrate to push both strings of a course down at once. To pay attention to my right and left hand position, the sound and the tablature all at once is a struggle for me, although I can manage to do well on any one of those one at a time. I'm taking the long view though, and will keep working at it because it is one of the most satisfying things in my life. I've benefitted from lessons with Franklin Lei, Ed Martin and Federico Marincola. Also many of the contributions to this list have been helpful. We have a great group of luters in the Bay Area (northern CA) and get together to play duets and such--that's the most fun! I worked for some years as an electrical engr. and left it about a decade ago after my son was born. Now I do web programming from home. It's great to see how many people from different countries and occupations love this beautiful instrument! --Nancy Gabriel
