Benoit PETITJEAN Thu, 13 Jan 2000 11:59:30 +0100 ---------------- Some non anglosaxon bio, for a change ? I'm Benoit Petitjean, which is a quite difficult name to pronounce for English speakers. Let's write the first name `Benwa' and translate the last name 'Little John'. Now.... that's better... just kidding. I'm 34, married, with one cute little girl (18 months old). As far as my official occupation is concerned, I am a research engineer in aerospace sciences, currently involved with sound and vibration control. Yes, there is a certain connection to music ! After a large number of years devoted to piano (from the age of 6), I became interested in early music through some friends, and played the harpsichord. I am still a reliable continuo player on this instrument, and often enjoy some accompaniment playing. I even built a small virginal kit back in 1989, and in the same workshop, there were amateur lute builders, under the supervision of Joel Dugot, well known luthier at that time, and president of the French Lute Society. This introduced me to the lute world ! I started with a small 7 course the next year (1990), built another 7 course after Venere (1592). Then I moved to the US for one and a half years, took part in the 1991 LSA lute seminar (great memories !). This way I got to know the lute net, the LSA, and even a number of lute net members. So I have been following this lute list from this time on (1992). I have a strong interest in tab production, and wrote some of the ones available on Wayne's archive. I now have a good 6 course lute after Frei that I built myself, and a 7 course built by Stefen Murphy, great instrument that I like very much. I will get a 4 course Renaissance guitar very soon. I enjoy very much ensemble playing, even though playing sessions are not very frequent. My lute teacher is Pascale Boquet. Well, I think that's all.
