Students attending this class should be familiar with the following basic topics: numbers, days of the week, greetings, introducing oneself and some basic vocabulary.

There will be plenty of opportunities for practising conversation and vocabulary during the course. The topics will include daily activities, living, the immediate surroundings and the Finnish way of life, among other things. The course will cover grammatical information taught on the Finnish 1 level. Regular class attendance (over 80 %) is highly recommended and the course requires extensive independent study. The course will be assessed on the basis of a final examination on a scale of 0-5.

After completing the course, students may continue their studies on the Finnish 2 level.
