Abstract

Databases in telecommunications have become an important research area in recent years. In this paper we will introduce an experimental database architecture for Intelligent Networks use. The architecture is a real time distributed object oriented database architecture that may be used to implement Service Control Functions and other telecommunications network elements that need database services. We will also introduce a prototype database architecture that is based on the final product. With the prototype we hope to gain insight of the actual database service usage in Intelligent Networks, how well real time databases and object orientation suit each other, and how a Service Data Function may be implemented with our architecture.
