Abstract

Attribute-oriented induction is a method for knowledge discovery in databases that has recently been described and widely applied by Han et al. In this note we point out the close connection between attribute-oriented induction and conceptual clustering as presented by Pitt & Reinke, and describe how a conceptual clustering algorithm can be used to perform attribute-oriented induction.
