Problem with NFS mounts (/cs/* paths) in CS Linux workstation hosts

Update: this has now been fixed and NFS mounts in all hosts should work normally (but only if your Linux host has all necessary updates).

If you are using an Cubbli CS Linux workstation or classroom installation where /cs/* NFS file shares are visible, they will stop working if you restart your Linux hosts using the newest 3.13.0-35-generic Linux kernel. You can still access NFS file shares, if you don't boot your Linux hosts or if you select an older kernel in the boot menu. This is because of incompabilities with some old NFS software (mainly svcgssd and gssd daemons), which the department is till using and is not a bug in the new kernel.

Fixing this will probably require updating NFS software in the server and in all clients and it it is probable that it cannot be done without breaks in NFS file services. We are still trying to figure out the best way to address the problem (one solution would be to just update all hosts to newer Ubuntu 14.04 based Linux installation, but it is not going to happen immediately).

This only applies to hosts using kerberos authentication with NFS mounts. Melkki, melkinpaasi, melkinkari, users and Ukko cluster are not affected.
