CURRENTLY CHANGING ACTIVITY STYLE, REPLACEMENT TO BE EXPECTED SPRING 2017

In the CINCO Group, we utilize Zotero Reference Manager and a group library named CINCOLIB which is cross platform reference manager that students and researchers can utilize to share articles accross multiple machines and users. The Zotero is cross-platform adds-on for Firefox, which means NO standalone application needs to be installed, and it can be easily integrated with MS WORD and OpenOffice/Liber Office.

- Students: you must ask your instructor for URLUsername, and Password (These username and passwords are different from Zotero’s ones). And these credentials will be used for synchronization via CS department WebDav server.

- Researchers/Instructors: if you want to add/remove users please read WebDav Configuration found in the Teachers' admin tools.

Here is a compressed information on how to use Zotero:

Registration: users need to register and hold a valid account in www.zotero.org. There are two places/libraries available in user's account. User’s own library which can used privately for own purposes, and Group Library which is shared with specific users.

Installation: Open Mozila Firefox, download and install the Fireox's Zotero Adds-on according to your operating system. If you wish to use some other browsers, you need to install the standalone application.

Integration with MS-Word or OpenOffice/LiberOffice: User must download and install Zotero Word Processor Plugin according to their word processor of choice and restrart both Firefox/Zotero application and the word processor. Afterwards, the Zotero is ready to be used.

How to Join the CINCOLIB Group Library: In order to connect to the CINCOLAB’s extensive group library and resources, you need to add the CINCOLAB group library to your own group library list. To do so, please follow these instruction and remember not to remove/make duplicate files in the group library.

- In Firefox, open the Zotero adds-on found in Add-on Bar or open your Zotero application, go to your setting’s preferences, and navigate to Settings panel. Please checkmark in the File Syncing section and select the WebDav from the dropdown list as shown in the following figure. In the beneath section you need to sellect HTTPS and type the URL cincolab.users.cs.helsinki.fi in the text field followed by your Username and Password (given by your instructor to you). Then, click on the Verify Server button. The WebDav server has been configured and will accept the valid username and passwords, therefore you do not need to make any special configuration. If the synchronization succeeds, you may close the window and start using the Zotero.
