The reading group/study circle provides a look to developments and ideas of digital prose and poetry. Amongst other topics we go into the ways to read and traverse cybertexts, the techniques of procedural and computational writing and the possibilities opened by poetry on an interactive medium, like a computer. We also take a look at the writing methods of the French workshop of potential literature Oulipo. The participants are assumed to have a strong interest in digital or computational literature.

Kurssin suorittaminen

This is not a course, nor a seminar, but a reading group or study circle where the learning goal is to gain an overview of central forms and techniques of digital literature.

In the reading group, each participant is expected to study the agreed material for each meeting, where it will then be discussed among all participants.

Kirjallisuus ja materiaali

The first text to be read (before the first meeting!) is section Textonomy, A Typology of Textual Communication in Espen J. Aarseth's book Cybertext: Perspectives to Ergodic Literature. See Moodle for links and more information (link on the top of the page).

The rest of the material will be agreed on in the first meeting.
