Advanced studies
The goals of this course are a) to revisit the math background needed to understand, design, and evaluate computer systems. This background consists of the basics of probability, statistics, and linear algebra. b) leverage this foundation to study the techniques to evaluate the performance of computer systems. Students will learn how to compare computer systems---using measurements, experiments, simulation, and queueing models---and also how to avoid the common mistakes.
