General
This seminar investigates emerging distributed computing frameworks for Big Data. The aim is to understand the challenges for distributed data analytics and machine learning with Big Data and then examine key solutions for supporting efficient and scalable operation in a cluster. The key frameworks include Berkeley Data Analytics Stack (BDAS), Spark, Hadoop, Dryad, MLib, etc. The seminar focuses on distributed data and computation placement and state synchronization, and the design of machine learning algorithms for the distributed environment with the help of middleware frameworks.
The seminar is given by professor Sasu Tarkoma and Dr. Mohammad Hoque.
