Changes to the provisions of the collective agreement on pay and holiday pay
An across-the-board increase
A decision has been reached on pay rises under the general collective agreement for Finnish universities as of 1 February 2016.
Staff will receive an average across-the-board increase of 16 euros, but no less than 0.43%, as indicated in the new pay tables available (in Finnish) on the website of the Association of Finnish Independent Education Employers: http://www.sivistystyonantajat.fi/tyomarkkinat/yliopistot.html.
Outside the salary system of Finnish universities (the YPJ system), the across-the-board increase will total 16 euros per month, but no less than 0.43%.
The salaries of professors and research fellows funded by the Academy of Finland will also be adjusted by 0.43%.
Changes to holiday pay
In addition to the pay rises, the qualifying period for percentage-based holiday pay will change. The calculation of percentage-based holiday pay will not apply unless a change of working hours has been in effect for at least four calendar months, or 120 calendar days in consecutive or non-consecutive periods.
Partial sick leave will not be included in the calculation of percentage-based holiday pay, regardless of the duration of such leave. These changes will apply to leave taken after 31 January 2016 and earned from 1 April 2015 onwards, or in practice, to leave taken in or after 2016.
